Jim Roberts
James V. “Jim” Roberts is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law (in Texas), and practices as part of the Estate Planning and Tax groups of Glast, Phillips & Murray. His practice focuses on estate planning, including gift, estate and generation-skipping transfer tax issues, trusts, wills, family limited partnerships and business succession strategies.
Jim is a 1975 graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, and is licensed in both Texas and Colorado. He has been inducted as a Fellow into the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and serves as a member of the Business Planning Committee. He is a member of the ABA Real Property, Probate and Trust Section, serving as Vice Chair of the Estate & Gift Tax Committee (2007-2010), a member of the standing Committee on Continuing Legal Education (2008-2018), Vice-Chair of the eCLE Committee (2009-2018), as the Lead Shepherd for the 2016 Spring Meeting in Boston and the 2017 Spring Meeting in Denver, as well as Assistant Editor for e-Report (2008-2017), and as a frequent contributor to that online publication. At the State Bar of Texas, he is a member of the Real Estate, Probate & Trust Law Section, and also is a member of the Tax Section, currently serving on Council and as the leader of the Sponsorship Task Force. In the past, he was the Chair of its Estate & Gift Tax Committee (2008-2009), Vice Chair of that committee (2007-2008), Assistant Editor of The Texas Tax Lawyer and Vice Chair of the Publications Committee (2006-2007). At the Dallas Bar Association, he is a member of the Probate Section, serving on its governing Council (2008-2010), and is a member of the Tax Section, serving as its Secretary-Treasurer (2009-2010), its Vice Chair (2010-2011) and as its Chair (2011-2012).
