At 7:55 AM (11:55 AM Dallas time), on December 7, 1941, Japanese planes attacked the US at Pearl Harbor. Over the next few years, an epic struggle ensued, and our freedoms here were protected by the men and women of America’s armed forces. Fewer than ten percent of those who served then are still with us today, and what a change has been wrought. Former enemies are now friends and allies.
Today, it seems to me, that it would be very fitting to say thank you to all those who served at Pearl Harbor, and during that war; and to say thank you as well to all those who since then and to those who even today wear the uniform of the United States armed forces. We owe you for our lives and our freedom.
I pray that God will give rest and peace to those who have departed this life, comfort those who have lost loved ones, give hope and strength to those who struggle today with the injuries and ills suffered in the service of this great country, grant peace and comfort to those whose loved ones serve, and bestow rich blessings and honor on all of those who serve.
Thank you.
